Gas Production & Consumption Rise Rapidly
Pakistan has emerged as a major international exporter and consumer of natural gas. Extensive gas exploration is in progress in many parts of the country, while production is continuously posting unprecedented growth. Consider the following:
- The Pakistan's natural gas production soared by 25.2 percent during the first half of 2008, compared to the same period last year.
- Total gas production reached 498,957 million cubic feet from June to December 2008.
- Pakistan currently exports up to 6 million tons of Liquid Natural Gas to many countries.
- Gas supplies from Petroleum Development Pakistan rose to over 30 million cubic meters per day in 2008.
